About Bobtown Arts

v-hayes_photo-WinterBobtown Arts is located on a 21-acre working farm in an historic black community near Berea, KY. The community pottery studio provides space for a number of local ceramic artists to work in clay at no cost and to participate in monthly wood firings and collaborate with other ceramic artists through experimentation in glaze formulas and wood firing techniques. Intermediate potters can access studio time and materials independently or in groups.

By growing food for artists and using waste fuels for kiln firings we can make art sustainable.

Space, material, time, and a nurturing environment in which to work—these are the things an artist needs to be self -realized.
